Everyone watched in the spring of 2022 as devastating floods affected the Yellowstone River and communities throughout southwest Montana.

As a Bozeman area fly shop that relies on the Yellowstone River to provide angling opportunities for clients from all over the world, the River's Edge is proud to support Simms and Montana Freshwater Partners with the brand-new, limited-edition Simms Watershed Wader.

The River's Edge is one of the few retailers with the Watershed Wader in stock, in-store. Stop by either of our locations to learn more about the wader and the conservation efforts behind its design.

Built using surplus GORE-TEX material, proceeds from the Watershed Wader will go directly to the Yellowstone River Stewardship Campaign, a campaign designed to protect and preserve the health and vitality of the Yellowstone River.

The campaign has been established through Montana Freshwater Partners, a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Livingston, Montana. Simms will donate $50,000 from sales of the Watershed Wader to projects protecting the health and resiliency of the Yellowstone River. The focus area of the campaign’s efforts will be on the waters upstream from Springdale to Yellowstone National Park, as well as the Shields River.

We here at the River's Edge are thankful for Montana and its beautiful, life-bringing waterways; we believe the best way to ensure they remain plentiful and vibrant is to give back what you can when you can. If you love Montana as we do, help us support the Yellowstone River with these special, limited-edition Simms Watershed Waders.

The Simms Watershed Waders retail for $599.95, feature GORE-TEX construction throughout, and will only be around for a limited time.

It's fall, and the temperatures are dropping...but the streamer action is hot. In the spirit of streamer junkies everywhere, we've decided to highlight one of our favorite ways to fish for an entire week.

WHAT: It's STREAMER WEEK, a six-day streamerpalooza at both of our stores. We've got a lot of great stuff lined up, such as:

  • Buy 1 streamer, get one free
  • Week-long in-store deals on streamer-specific gear
  • Streamer seminars on Saturday, Oct. 21, at both locations
  • Fly-tying demo Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Main St. location
Keep It Simple: Use Tippet Rings
Keep It Simple: Use Tippet Rings

After working in the shop the past two summers, as well as instructing some of our Fly Fishing Classes, I’ve gotten to interact with tons of new anglers who are just getting started. One of the biggest takeaways I’ve found from these interactions, is that people are really intimidated by the knowledge surrounding fly fishing, specifically knots and different rigs.

Perhaps one of the most helpful, time-saving tools/gear I’ve ever come across is the tippet ring. Many of you have probably already heard of them, but with how much it has helped clients and customers, I feel the need to reintroduce.
